Russia's Crude Steel Output Dipped in June

July 31(LTIT) –The monthly production data published by the World Steel Association (worldsteel) suggests notable decline in crude steel output by the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) region in June this year. The regional output reported decline of 5% when matched with the previous year. The output totalled 7.949 million tonnes (Mt) during the month, compared with 8.367 Mt in June 2019.

 

Russia was the leading steel producer in the region. The Russian output totalled 5.600 Mt, down by 7.6% from 6.058 Mt in June last year. On the contrary, the output by Ukraine recorded notable surge by 9.0% over the year from 1.659 Mt to 1.809 Mt. Kazakhstan, the third largest regional steel producer, saw its output tumble by approximately 30% year-on-year. The monthly crude steel output by other countries in the region is as follows: Byelorussia (210,000 tonnes), Uzbekistan (75,000 tonnes) and Moldova (20,000 tonnes).
